"On the motionless branches of some trees, autumn berries hung like clusters of coral beads, as in those fabled orchards where the fruits were jewels . . ."  Charles Dickens

Rubus fruticosus (Wild Blackberry)

I found these berries in the woods and they were surprisingly colourful for the time of year. I wanted to include the leaves and place the berries in a rule of thirds position and I also wanted to use the lines present in the plant. The fallen leaves of the surrounding trees were chosen to get a nice background colour. I could have brushed off the spiders webs, but wanted to keep the imperfections visible. Of course I used the tripod and watched the motion of the leaves in the light wind until they kept still for a few seconds and then I pressed the shutter release. This allowed me to shoot through the whole aperture range. The photos presented here are the same composition, but one is shot at 1/13s and f/2.8 and the other one is taken at a very slow 1/2s and f/8 aperture which gives the best detail vs. subject isolation.
