Ranunculus asiaticus (Persian buttercup) - Life cycle One of the things you learn while taking photos in the field is to observe the changes around you. The life cycle of a lot of plants and flowers is interesting; the different morphs, colours and shapes when recorded by photographers give them a better understanding of the flora and lead to a genuine admiration of nature. In this series of photos we show the life cycle of Ranunculus asiaticus, a beautiful flower which “lives” for less than a month. We start with a photo of its flowers lit by the morning sun, details of the flower, the formation of the cone with the seeds in the interior of the flower, the cone alone, with all the sepals and petals gone and finally the seeds, detaching from the main plant, falling on the ground where they will stay for 11 more months. A perfect cycle which is accurately repeated every year. Photos by Marina Parha and George J. Reclos Shooting Data: 1. Camera: Nikon D700 2. Camera: Nikon D300 3. Camera: Nikon D700 4.
