“In fact, it makes me mad when someone kills snakes or dogs or cats or horses. I don't even like to eat meat - that is how much I am against killing....” Charles Manson

Elaphe Obsoletta leucistic (common name: White rat snake)

I have previously tried to take photos of this snake and failed; part of the problem was that the glass in front of the snake enclosures was marked with fingerprints. The red lamp which these reptiles need reflects on them and ruins the photos. I spent a lot of time in front of the enclosure this time; I managed to get the photos when most visitors left so I could get really close to the glass. The extension cable of the flash was useful when it came to avoiding the eyes being entirely ruined; the 180 mm of the Tamron allowed me to get the detail despite the distance from the subject.

Elaphe Obsoletta leucistic II

During my visit I noticed that most of the people there were trying to take photos of a single animal. I thought that the mass of them was far more interesting and attractive.
