Camelus Bactrianus (Bactrian Camel)

The Bactrian camel has been recently identified as one of the species in need of better protection to prevent extinction. The wild population consisting of a few hundred animals, is decreasing, though a number of them are successfully kept in captivity.

The animals in these photos are being kept in Attica Zoological Park (photos 1-3) and in Chester zoo (photo 4). Camels appear to be quite relaxed in the presence of visitors, which is always welcomed by photographers.
