Sale Park (Trafford, Manchester, UK) Sale Park is a recreation park for sailing, fishing, cycling or just walking. Most importantly, it is a natural reserve for birds and other wildlife. Although not a huge site, it combines forest with grassland, rivers and canals with a lake and the famous British weather which means everything from heavy overcast to bright sunshine in one day, sometimes alternating every 15 minutes. We have been there a number of times so we know what the place looks like and where we may see interesting landscapes, animals or plants. As with all natural reserves, you should be carrying a lot of equipment since you never know what you will come across. Thus, we normally carry a long telephoto, a medium one, a wide angle and a macro lens. Some of the photos taken in this place are already on-line in the relevant sections but we thought we should devote an album to present the landscape. We have spend tens of hours there, returned with some stunning photos, fell in the mud (twice), seen snow falling on our heads and equipment, ducks walking on the ice. We decided to share some photos taken during the winter and some during the summer so you can see the seasonal changes. Located very close to our house in UK it offers us a quick escape route allowing us a couple of relaxing hours from time to time. The first four photos were taken during the winter (freezing February 2009) and the last two in the summer (July 2008). All photos were taken in the afternoon – or even evening (summer) since the light falls sideways at this time of the day, revealing the texture of trees and plants, increasing contrast and colour saturation, creating interesting skies while adding a warm tint to the scenery.
