"A morning-glory at my window satisfies me more than the metaphysics of books."  Walt Whitman

Heliconia wagneriana (family: Heliconiaceae; common name: Easter Heliconia

No need to explain why I took those photos. I had seen this plant many times during my visits to Brazil and have watched hummingbirds feeding on it. However, most often my camera was not there with me, since these were business trips. However, once I knew I would have some free days, I packed my D70 and my macro lens and off I went. This particular Heliconia was found in the Sao Paulo zoo, amongst dense vegetation and it really shinned with its red colour against the green foliage. I decided to take photos of two different plants and then moved closer and closer. All shots were taken with the same settings using the flash to illuminate the plant properly.
