Flutterer (Cygnus olor, common name: Mute Swan)

A swan removing water droplets from its wings. The two photos were taken at the same spot, at the same time, therefore the camera settings are the same for both. However the black and white version shows some more detail while the colour photo looks more natural.

Lens: Nikkor AF-S 300mmf/2.8 VR II + Nikon TC 1.7 II (effectively 510 mm)
Sensitivity: ISO 500
Shutter speed - aperture: 1/800 sec - f/5.6, Aperture priority mode
Flash: None
Image: NEF edited in Photoshop CS4, levels adjusted, sharpening added saved as JPEG and resized.
