Ramphastos toco (common name: Toco tucan)

One of the rare "difficult" occasions that worked for me - in the end. When I saw this tucan it was too close to me while I already had the 180 mm on the camera. Birds, in general, will not stay there for long so, changing a lens could be fatal. I was lucky that this is also a macro lens which allowed me to stick it on the cage and take a close up of the bird. Seconds later it flew away but not before I had taken five shots in rapid sequence. This one turned the best.

Ramphastos tucanus (common name: Cuvier's toucan)

I love toucans, all kinds of them. Thus, when I visit this park, I always take some photos of them. However, what makes this photo special is the expression of the toucan which seems wondering what the hell am I doing with that black thing with the long snout.

This toucan is less impressive than its biggest cousin but shows a sexual dimorphism which allows to tell makes from females. In the bottom photo, the pair is seen to have their mouths open in an effort to cool down. It was an extremely hot day!
