“It can be a trap of the photographer to think that his or her best pictures were the ones that were hardest to get.” Timothy Allen

Podarcis taurica ionica (Balcan wall lizard)

We were out shooting sceneries when we heard a rustling noise. We remained still in our places and started looking on the ground carefully. We noticed these small lizards chasing each other's tail in the sun over Easter by a small lake in Strophylia reserve. We observed them for a while as they were continuing chasing each other. We do not know enough about them to say if that is courting behaviour or war however we thought we would capture the scene with our camera. We were impressed by their perfect camouflage - their colours were an exact match of the grass and ground colours.
