Egretta garzetta: A day in the Waterland (common name: Little Egret; Gk: λευκοτσικνιάς) Being there often, watching these magnificent birds following their everyday routine has made some "images" a quite familiar sight for us. Not everybody can spend time in such places though so we think that presenting photos of the birds engaging in everyday activities may be of interest. The first photo captures the typical dance like display of two males. The weaker of the two must definitely leave though in this instance the dance was a performance or rehearsal so no harm came to either of them. The two photos that follow show how efficient this bird is when fishing. The last two photos show a little chick approaching the place where the egret is resting. The egret makes one step forward which is correctly interpreted as "go away" by the chick, which almost walks on the water. All shots taken in Strophylia reserve (West Peloponnese, Greece). Photos by Mahi Goula and George Parchas Shooting Data: 1.Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II 2. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II 3. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II 4. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II 5.
