Gracula religiosa (common name: Common hill mynah)

There were two enclosures with mynah in them. Strangely enough, the bird in the photo was not interested in any of the birds sharing its enclosure but was completely captured by a mynah in the next enclosure. It chose a branch close to the front and sat there "talking" to its pair across the fence. I closed in and took several photos at a distance of less than a meter. Due to the relatively long focal length of the lens and the large magnification I stepped down the lens and relied on my flash unit for a correct exposure.

Common hill mynah II

This individual was posing for me!!! I took numerous shots of it with my flash off. The bird seemed determined to allow me to take his portrait so he conveniently placed himself on a nicely lit branch.

Common hill mynah III

"Romeo" again, this time from a different angle.  I was surprised by the boldness of these birds - though they  were aware of the visitors and  the fact I was shooting they didn't seem  disturbed  in the least.
