"As long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower beings, he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seeds of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love." Pythagoras

Eos bornea garrlulus
(Order: Psittaciformes; Family: Psittacidae; common name: Red lory)
Playful as ever, this parrot will never mind your presence
or the use of your flash. It will continue enjoying its fruit or display to the
other birds. A beautiful bird, full of energy yet friendly enough and playful.

Trichoglossus haematodus (common name: Rainbow lory)
This is a bird which can be used to evaluate the colour accuracy of your camera since it has almost every colour on it (except green). I took these shots with very small aperture settings to "eliminate" the background. As a result these photos also show a greater depth of field (compare with the photo of the same bird here). Getting fine detail is easier when shooting parrots and lories because of the peculiar construction of their feathers.

Chalcopsitta duivenbodei (common name: Duivenbode's lory)
Those parrots may not be the most colourful I have seen but they are quite aggressive and usually display to each other, which offers many photo opportunities. After taking a lot of shots showing them fighting I decided to wait a little to see what happens when things settle (a very rare moment I must add). In this photo, the two birds are sitting next to each other catching their breath till the next fight. Although the colors are not as vivid as with other species, still the combination is a very pleasant one.
