Giraffa Camelopardalis (Giraffe)

"In a world older and more complete than ours, animals move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth." Henry Beston

Giraffa camelopardalis (common Name : Giraffe)

This giraffe was looking at the camera while eating. For some reason this looked quite funny to me. The large forehead and eyes, the two little horns and the large upper lip made up a composition which, although familiar still looked funny.

Giraffe II

This individual, relaxed and undisturbed by visitors, went on to snack on a nearby tree. It looked pretty pleased with itself for having this idea so I thought I would capture the moment.

Giraffe III

It is quite difficult to get a good photo of giraffes at the park. Their long neck extends pretty high and as a result the background (houses, electric pylons, wires etc) come into the frame. I took the opportunity of this individual eating some grass to take a couple of shots to include the neck.
