Hogna radiata: Motherhood (common name: False tarantula)

We found this female carrying her young on her back in a corner of a classroom. Regrettably spiders are, more often than not, considered as  unwelcomed visitors and get killed. Though normally we do not interfere with wildlife in this instance we made an exception. To ensure that mother and young remained unharmed by the learners and the school cleaners we carefully placed them in a small box and took them home. After taking some photos we released the female and its young in a suitable location.
