"A man is ethical only when life, as such, is sacred to him, that of plants and animals as that of his fellow men, and when he devotes himself helpfully to all life that is in need of help."  Albert Schweitzer

Ebenus sp. (Family: Fabaceae)

A very delicate and beautiful flower found in Hymettus mountain in late May / early June. One needs to get really close to the short shrub to enjoy the complexity of the flower and the many hues of pink. One of the vey few flowers that do not lose much of their beauty when they reach the end of their annual cycle as the last photo indicates. Found sporadically in close proximity to other plants, it only becomes visible when the flowers open.
