Carpobrotus acinaciformis (family: Aizoaceae; common name: Sour fig; Sally-my-handsome) Sally-my-handsome (Carpobrotus acinaciformis) is a succulent perennial of the family Aizoaceae, native to South Africa. The pink flowers are very showy and the plant is frequently cultivated, especially in mild coastal climates. In some areas it has become naturalised on sea cliffs and can out-compete native species. This is indeed the case in many places in Greece where this plant has almost replaced common grass. While walking around during a hot spring day I saw two clusters of this plant with flowers fully open. I had two bodies armed with two lenses which differed a lot; a fast telephoto and a fast normal lens. I decided to use both of them and get photos with different perspective and depth of field – after all I would choose the best ones afterwards. However, when I got back home it was really difficult to tell which ones I liked more, so I decided to present both of them here. Photos by George J. Reclos Shooting Data: 1. Camera: Nikon D300 2.
