I was born on the south side of Chicago in the mid 70's. As a
Greek American kid of the 80's I grew up consuming all types of TV,
Video Games, Electronic Gadgets and Computers. I would spend hours
taking electronics apart, studying their inner workings and put them
back together again. When I was not tinkering with gadgets I would spend
most of my free time skateboarding, playing baseball and shooting film
and video. Hey wait, come to think about it - I still do all these
things! ![]()
I have spent most of my years living and working in Chicago but have experienced life in other fascinating cities such as Vrahneika (Βραχναίικα - Greece), Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Toronto (Canada) and Prague (Czech Republic).
Throughout the years I have managed to study Computer Sciences at PURDUE University. I learned Film and Video production - my other hobby from Columbia College in Chicago. My skills have allowed me to work on some amazing projects from all sorts of locations. I have worked and continue to work with some of the best leaders and amazing brains in the Financial Markets, the Film Industry and the Tech sector.
I maintain a nice balance between professional and personal projects, which complement each other. I currently live with the most amazing girlfriend ever, Jen, who is the sun in my sky. Keeping us company in this life's journey is a super cool Boxer Dog named Zelda.
I have taken on the MCH Portal project from two stand points:
a) I have always had curiosity for aquariums: fish, crabs and plants. The closest I have come to maintaining fish was for a few days when the carnival came to town one year. I was 10 years old. Win a Fish! Object, you toss a ping-pong ball at a table full of little gold fish, swimming in glass bowls way too small. If the ball goes in a bowl, you take a fish home. Little did I know then about the system shock these fish must have gone through. Still, I did my best to keep this little guy alive. I walked to 7 Seas - the aquarium store in town - and bought food, a 10 gallon tank with an air pump, some coloured gravel, a skull and fake plastic trees. The fish from the carnival died within a matter of days and so did my set up. That was the end of that.
As an adult I have always wanted to maintain a proper aquarium with an amazing Eco system of fish, crabs and real live plants. Hard to do when your on the road a lot. Well now I have the resources to obtain and maintain such a system. I would like to create a relaxing environment that I can come home to from a long day's work and unplug.
b) From a Tech Point, this site is amazing on numerous
levels. The complexity of the site as well as the resources needed to
build and maintain MCH Portal are awesome. The idea of expert hobbyists
worldwide uploading thoughts, ideas, pictures and video to share and
educate is fantastic. Finally, the international co-operation
underlying the site and manifested, amongst others, in the translation
of the information in many different languages is an amazing effort.
