This is, briefly, me: I was born in Rome, Italy (where I still live) in 1956. Motorcycle rider for as long as I can remember, SSI/CMAS scuba instructor (having logged over 500 dives in Red Sea - Egypt, Israel, Sudan, Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean Sea (Cuba) and, finally, Lake Malawi). I've been involved from many years in fish keeping. Having focused (during the last ten years) on cichlids from the Rift Valley I also have an interest in "New World" Cichlids and Catfishes (mostly loriicarids). My latest "fishy interest" are Madagascan cichlids. I also fancy, a lot, succulent plants, orchids, carnivorous ones and (old world) Chameleons.
Stephania (my better half) and I share most of our interests. In February 2003 we were blessed with the arrival of our son, Leonardo.
My "fishy" dreams include keeping a Scleropages formosus (Red dragon) and acquiring a 2000 lit (530 gal.) tank.
Over the years in the hobby I have had different set ups. I currently have the following:
- The “Big One” (750 lt - see above)
- The “Amazon” Tank (500 lt) check also here for some fish pics.
- The (former) Twin Tank (260 lt),
- The Triple Tank (the upper unit is 125 lt while the lower unit consists of 2 tanks which are 65 lt each, totalling 130 lt)
- The Turtle tank (50 lt),
- The Outside Tank (130 lt)
Last but not least I am the proud owner of a Green-House mostly devoted to cacti and succulents.
