MCH Portal is devoted to the celebration of Nature. Our Photography section contains photos of beautiful landscapes and animals as well as articles and presentations about taking photos. In our Aquatic Life and Fishkeeping sections there are photos and information about aquatic species in their natural habitat and suggestions about keeping and breeding these in captivity. MCH Portal also contains links to other sites with similar content. Photography and fishkeeping are both arts so we chose the painting of the Italian artist Kho to represent them in our logo.
If you are offended by such material or you dislike animals and fish in particular, please leave now. This site is not acting in any way to send you this information; you are choosing to receive it. Welcome

Sunday, 4th July 2010

It is with great pleasure that we are welcoming four new members to the MCH family. Leonidas Kougioumtzis started photography 5 years ago and he was immediately taken by nature, both macro and wildlife. His aim has always been to capture the majestic beauty of nature without having to process his pictures heavily. He thinks of a good photo as one which is simple and can speak for itself; he avoids what he calls 'exagerations' as he thinks 'simple is beautiful'. His pictures are a delight for every nature lover.

Dimitris Magarakis has been a photography lover for more than 40 years. His depth of knowledge concerning the technical aspects of photography is coupled to his will to experiment, shoot everything in his own way and then process it extensively without altering anything. In this sense his processing is unique; he uses photo editors only to bring up the beauty or the detail in a photo and perhaps correct white balance or geometry but not to add or remove anything. Although he is basically an amateur he sometimes works with his daughter as a semi-professional to cover various events.

Gregory Nakos started taking photos in 1978 using a Lubitel 2 (6x6 film format) with which he shot about 200 rolls before moving on to Nikon SLRs. Using a number of bodies, namely Nikon F50, Nikon F90x and Nikon F4s  he shot more than 11.000 36-roll films. In March 2008 he entered digital photography with a Nikon D80 to which a Nikon D300 was added a year later. An avid motorcycle traveler, Gregory he has visited and photographed a good many places.

George Tsibouxis started photography tow and a half years ago by chance. After many hours of reading and studying the great photographers he managed to take his first good photos. This made him love photography and make it his hobby. He started macro photography last September and he immediately knew this was to become his passion as it combines the art of photography with nature. He hopes his photos here will "help the student, researcher and photographer who wants to know a bit more about the flora and fauna of Greece".  Welcome on board everybody!!!

We are delighted to announce that Tim Koutropoulos is officially a member of the MCH Team (who are now the MCH Five). During the past couple of years, as we were rebuilding the site, Tim's support has been invaluable on the technical front in all sorts of ways. He has passed his test with flying colours by responding to our "Tim HELP!!!" emails promptly and to the point. So from now on, if you are experiencing technical difficulties with the site (not that you ever will ...), please put on the title line of your email to the webmaster "Tim HELP" and we will know who to forward it to! (For those of you from the UK we are about to start our own series, "Tim will Fix It".)

Finally  we have added one more category to our Photography section:  Viewfinder. There are plans for further expansion so keep these photos coming in.

Enjoy the update, everybody!
