Systems - The Structure

A system is an arrangement of components or parts with a view to achieving a desired outcome. In aquarism this outcome is water of an appropriate quality for our fish. There are various types of systems each meeting best the needs of some of the species of fish kept in captivity. Systems typically comprise a tank, a pump, heaters, filter media, air pumps, air outlets and lighting. Other equipment such as ozonizers, UV sterilizers, skimmers etc can also be parts of systems.

The articles in this category discuss different ways of building a system to house fish in captivity (and yes, there are many ways to do so, some more effective than others). You will also find discussions about various equipment commercially available to help you decide what is, or can be, useful to you and your fish.
