Marine temperate Ecology

So what is happening to our seas? The sea has always been a source of life; generations have depended on it to earn their livelihood. Though rarely in the focus by comparison to tropical seas, temperate marine enviornments are equally, if not more, in danger from over-exploitation and pollution. Public awareness is still low; national and international legislation is often breached. The result is an evergrowing list of threatened or believed to be extinct species, polluted seas and coastal areas and a consistently rising dependence on farmed marine animals to satisfy the needs of local markets.

Presentations of - and reports on - temperate marine areas are the topic of this category.
