FW Tropical Plants

Whether added for decoration or to fulfil a more specific purpose, plants are a beautiful addition to any tank. Aquatic gardeners achieve stunning creations playing with colour, size and careful aquascaping. Even if plants are not the centrepiece of a tank they are important in making some fish feel 'at home' and providing the right environment for these to thrive and breed. Like all aquatic life they require regular care and maintenance to flourish.

The incompatibility of the requirements of plants and fish in the same tank is often the reason why one or both of these do not do well. Frequency and length of water changes, light levels, fertilization, pH and KH requirements, temperature etc are all important factors an aquarist needs to consider when selecting their stock. The tropical plant profiles in this category offer information to this effect.
